Thoughts from No Regrets

So you think you want a Jack Russell Terrier?

The stories you have read are true. These little dogs want to be busy. Without a job they will create their own job.

JRT's love to hunt, part of the hunt is digging. If your yard is neatly manicured this is probably not the dog for you. A fenced yard is a must and be prepared to keep the fence line secure or they will be working to dig out.

Like most hunters, they will hunt whatever is available; your cat, your bunny or your bird will all be fair game.

JRT's shed a lot, once again if you hate pet hair these dogs are probably not for you.

JRT's are not the best dogs if you are seeking a companion for your dog. I believe they are happiest being the only dog.

If you choose to have more then one dog, one boy and one girl is the best combination.

Now for some of the positive points.

JRT's are very smart and can learn quickly. They love their people and are the perfect size for snuggling.

They love to play, especially chase games. Mine love to chase balls and rope toys. They are quick learners and are happiest learning new tasks.

A lot of JRT's do very well in Agility competitions, this is a great outlet for their energy levels.

My pups are crate trained, this means they are in their crate when no one is home. This protects them and protects my furniture.

These are wonderful little dogs if you enjoy an active lifestyle.
